Hyundai is Winner of the Autobild Quality Report for 2 Consecutive Years

Hyundai won first place in the Autobild quality report organized in 2011 by the leading European car magazine — and then won it again in 2012, confirming that the first title was no accident.

Hyundai’s quality dominated in a comparison of the top 20 major car brands participating in the awards organized by this prestigious German Automotive Magazine. In 2011, Hyundai even improved its score compared to the previous year, fully justifying customer confidence.

Autobild Quality report results

Autobild evaluates the top 20 major auto brands each year based on seven key criteria:

Criteria 1

GFK Report from Germany

Representative report on quality and safety created by GFK (Gesellschaft für Konsumforschung), based on 9,278 interviews with vehicle users. Key question: “How do you assess the quality of the brand of vehicle you own from 1 to 10?”

Criteria 2

Service Interventions

What problems did the vehicle have? How many vehicles experienced the same issue? Did manufacturers respond? Were customers treated fairly and kept informed?

Criteria 3

TÜV Report

Checks of brakes, drivability, axles, chassis and lighting devices (safety aspect). 7,500,000 checks were carried out across 208 vehicle models.

Criteria 4

AUTO BILD Endurance Test

100,000 km of hard testing per vehicle, on the worst roads in Europe, with changing drivers and conditions. Vehicles are dismantled to the last component at the conclusion of the test.

Criteria 5

Reader Mail & Email

Around 11,000 letters and emails from AUTO BILD readers reporting problems with their vehicles were considered, covering product defects and official service issues.

Criteria 6

DEKRA Research

DEKRA is a German organization working with technical vehicle inspections, expert opinions, international management and consulting, industrial testing, product testing, certification and environmental protection.

Criteria 7

Warranty

What protection does the customer have if a problem arises with the vehicle? This is an area where Asian manufacturers — and Hyundai in particular — hold an absolute advantage.
