The Ring Brothers “Bailout” — a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback turned into one of the most jaw-dropping pro-touring builds in the world — has appeared on eBay with an asking price of $299,900.
The Ring Brothers Mustang, nicknamed “Bailout”, made its first public appearance at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas — and promptly stopped the automotive world in its tracks. Mike and Jim Ring, the Wisconsin-based brothers behind one of America’s most respected custom shops, built this car entirely out of their heads. As Jim Ring told Mustangs & Fords magazine: “We built this Mustang out of our heads, with nothing on paper.”
Now the car has hit eBay, and at $299,900 it represents either the bargain of a lifetime or a very expensive piece of rolling art — depending entirely on your perspective. To put it in context, two previous Ring Brothers Mustangs sold for $280,000 and $346,500 respectively.
The Engine — 427ci, 602HP, Built by Keith Craft
Under the heavily sculpted bonnet, recessed six inches to lower the centre of gravity, sits a 427 cubic-inch Windsor stroker V8 built by Keith Craft Performance Engines of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Starting life as a Dart 351 block, it has been stroked out to a full 427 cubic inches and fitted with Mahle forged pistons, Edelbrock aluminium heads, and a Holley carburettor — honouring the old-school roots that make classic Mustangs so intoxicating.
The result: 602 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque, protected by Royal Purple lubricants and exhaled through a custom 3-inch dual exhaust with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers routed through outlets in the lower rear quarter panels. You will hear this car long before you see it.

The Body — Every Panel Touched
There is not a single inch of the Bailout that has not been reshaped, refined or replaced. The front and rear valances are custom hand-formed pieces. The rear bumper is slickly tucked flush to the body. The rear features staggered billet taillights integrated into custom-fabricated quarter panels. An aggressive front end with purpose-built air inlets dominates the nose.
The roof, hood and trunk lid are all carbon fibre, shedding weight where it matters most. A full roll cage has been installed for structural rigidity and safety. All body work was carried out by Greening Auto Company, and the entire shell was then finished in Ringbrothers’ own custom-mixed BASF Glasurit colour: Stimulus Blue — a deep, electric shade that shifts dramatically in different light.
The Interior — Race-Ready, Not Spartan
Inside, Upholstery Unlimited of Clinton, Iowa handled the custom floor covering in black. The driving environment is dominated by Recaro seats, a red-leather wrapped LeCarra steering wheel, Classic Instruments gauges and Tilton floor-mount pedals. An Alpine head unit feeds Kicker speakers and subwoofers — because even the most serious pro-touring build deserves great music.
The Price — Is It Worth $299,900?
At $299,900, the Bailout is not a casual purchase. But consider: previous Ring Brothers Mustangs have sold for $280,000 and $346,500. The build took months of intensive work from some of America’s most respected specialists. The car has been featured in over 25 magazines and more than 100 digital articles. It is an OPTIMA Street Challenge machine that has been shown and driven — not trailered and coddled.
For the buyer who wants the ultimate 1966 Mustang — one built by the most celebrated name in American restomods, with a properly modern drivetrain, race-spec brakes, stunning aesthetics, and 602 naturally aspirated horsepower — $299,900 may well be a fair price. There is simply nothing else like it.
